THE CROOKED AND THE RIGHTEOUS: Proverbs 11:1-4

Updated: Nov 23, 2023

Comparing the Nature of the Crooked and the Righteous According to Proverbs

Let’s review a few things that we have discussed about Proverbs before we begin. 1. Wisdom is only wisdom if it is eternally true, therefore true wisdom can only come from YHVH and is modeled perfectly in the life of our Savior, Yeshua.

2. True wisdom is a stronghold and a foundation that we should treasure

3. Godly wisdom is the hallmark in the life of the righteous

4. The fool rejects Godly wisdom in pursuit of other knowledge

As we continue through our study of Proverbs, let us not forget why it matters, because true wisdom leads us to reverently fear the Father and father the Messiah. Today, we will discuss the first 4 verses of Proverbs 11. The rest of the chapter explores statements of righteousness that are all connected in that theme. We will continue to see this pattern where Proverbs makes many of its claims are built upon juxtaposing opposing attitudes or behaviors. The entirety of chapter 11 follows this pattern, and will be the basis for how we will explore our reading today. This teaching was delivered at Pursuing Truth Ministries.
