THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM

What is the Gospel of the Kingdom? Testing False Gospels

THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM:

This teaching will continue the series I’ve been working through called “false.” Once again, our purpose is to study controversial topics that are finding root in the body of believers, which is leading to an avalanche of false doctrines, false books, and false gospels being adopted by many believers. We must first engage in discipleship to teach others how to refute and defend their faith correctly, but more importantly, guard and protect our witness and the true Gospel of the Kingdom. As a result, even if we do not believe these falsehoods and fringe ideologies ourselves, we benefit from studying Scripture, learning what it actually teaches, and preparing ourselves to challenge gentleness, love, and confidence effectively. This preparedness allows us to bring a brother or sister in faith back from wandering, effectively saving them from destruction. Consider the following verse:

Galatians 6:1 kjv

“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

This word “fault” in Greek may appear in your Bibles as “transgress,” but let’s take a look at what this word means.

G3900: παράπτωμα: paraptōma

“a lapse or deviation from truth and uprightness; a sin, misdeed”

We often interpret this verse to be addressing only sinful behavior, but we could also understand this word to address wandering from the truth or departing from Biblical sound doctrine. Which if you read any of Paul’s letters, much of his writing is dealing with correcting unbiblical doctrines. Furthermore, Yeshua spent a great deal of His ministry doing the exact same thing. Paul encouraged his readers to “restore” those who are in sin or wandering from the truth in gentleness, so what does he mean by “restore.”

G2675: καταρτίζω: katartizō

“to mend, to repair, to fit out, equip, put in order, arrange, adjust, to fit or frame for oneself, prepare, to strengthen, perfect, complete, make one what he ought to be.”

As believers, we are to recognize when a brother or sister is overtaken in sin or has wandered from true doctrine and respond with gentleness to mend, repair, equip, and put our brothers and sisters in proper order.

Keep this mission in mind as we continue this study today and in the future. We will increasingly see brothers and sisters in faith being led astray by all kinds of false doctrines and gospels as we grow closer to the coming of the Messiah. Remember, the enemy will attempt to lead even the elect astray in the end days. So, we must be prepared to counter that deception in our own lives and lead those of faith back from wandering into deception themselves.

This teaching is potentially the most important topic we will study: the Gospel of the Kingdom. We will define the Gospel of the Kingdom of God thoroughly and Biblically. By the end of this, my prayer is you will not only know with conviction what the Gospel truly is, but you will be able to share it with great confidence with those who are in the dark.
